Retro PC

Under the hood runs v86, an open-source x86 emulator compiled to WebAssembly. It emulates the CPU, VGA card, floppy controller, and keyboard of a classic PC entirely inside your browser tab; nothing is installed and nothing leaves your device. The machine boots FreeDOS, the free, open-source DOS-compatible operating system.

Click the screen, then try some classic commands at the A:\> prompt:

• dir — list the files on the floppy
• ver — show the DOS version
• cls — clear the screen
• type autoexec.bat — look at the boot script, like it's 1994
• edit — the full-screen text editor (Alt for menus, when available)

Reset reboots the machine; Power On/Off cold-starts or shuts it down. The emulator, BIOS, and OS are all free software: v86 (BSD), SeaBIOS (LGPL), FreeDOS (GPL).
